NOT A BOOK CLUB
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2020

Most of us have thought about attending a book club. There are all kinds of clubs, but most have one thing in common. At least one person has to read a book and do something interesting with it. Because that someone eventually has to be you, you pass on becoming a member.

This organizational and goal-defining (whops! shouldn't use these words!) meeting (maybe not this one as well) could just be your chance. What if you never had to read a book, or at least do something else with it? What if you could let dinner burn at home while in pleasant company here, and get credit for it? Here is your chance to help create a monthly meeting and what it might do.

Certain book lovers, led by a few creative members of the Oglethorpe County Friends of the Library, have decided they want to have a book club, but don't want the pressure of reading a book somebody else has decided for them. So, here's the general idea:

Anyone who would like to come should be here. If you want some nibbles, bring them. If you want to bring a book to talk about, please do (after all, that is supposed to be the general idea of the group). But, if you would rather just hear great ideas from others, enjoy a snack and be part of the fun ... that's fine, too.

"No-Pressure Book Grou[ was the provisional name choosen at this first meeting. But judging from the images of that event, below, one might doubt the seriousness of that decision.
