Dana Cooper

Dana Cooper's album "The Ghost of Tucumcari" voted #1 Album of 2024 on Americana Highways Readers Poll.

Nashville-based and acclaimed singer/songwriter Dana Cooper is a poetic songwriter, an insightful storyteller, and a rousing musician whose performances engage and inspire audiences around the world. Central to Cooper's unique artistry is his ability to connect with audiences through his authentic stories, sense of humor and warm stage presence. Cooper's mixture of flat-picking, finger-picking and percussive strumming style is legend among other guitarists. An expressive singer, his voice is ageless, evoking a rich lifetime of experience.

"Dana has a poet's eye for beauty and detail, a blue's man's soul and a songbird's gift. He is remarkable." - Hayes Carll

His vast career started with his 1st self-titled release on Elektra Records in the 70's. The studio band consisted of legendary players - "The Section" with Leland Sklar and Russ Kunkel aka "The Immediate Family." In the late 70's Dana moved to Texas to be in a band with Shake Russell, releasing several albums together and performing on "Austin City Limits". Returning to his roots as a solo performer, his move to Nashville in 1988 produced collaborations with several established artists - Kim Carne (Betty Davis Eye's), Don Henry, Hal Ketchum, Kim Richey, Tom Kimmel and more. Cooper has been invited to participate in songwriting workshops from Belfast to Copenhagen to Austin.

"The Ghost of Tucumcari" is Dana's 32nd release. It has received rave reviews in American Songwriter, Glide Magazine, M Music Magazine, Americana Highways online and more. The album features Lyle Lovett, Hayes Carll, Susan Gibson, Libby Koch, Shake Russell, Darden Smith and more.
