Ashton Dooley and Norman Baldwin

[Mostly from their promotional literature]

Only together since September of 2019, Dooley and Baldwin have quietly crafted 45 songs and made their musical debut at the Historic Athens Porchfest 2020 - Flagpole Magazine's "Virtual Event of the Year" - where Dooley and Baldwin received the fourth highest number of views among 44 acts.

Ashton Dooley is the author of over 100 songs performed primarily in the breweries and coffee shops of his former hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is currently completing a Ph.D. program in Sports Pedagogy at The University of Georgia.

Norman Baldwin is a retired political science professor and front man who entertained University of Alabama students for 11 years before returning home to Athens. He has sung for Simon Cowell on the "X Factor" and earned a bachelor's degree and Ph.D. from UGA.

The duo's roots run deep into Athens as Ashton's father Bill Dooley coached football at UGA with Bill's brother Vince. Norman is the son of a UGA professor and related to Abraham Baldwin who founded UGA. As musicians, Dooley and Baldwin are proud to be the black sheep of a family producing 14 Division I college football players and coaches.

At first blush, Dooley and Baldwin are firmly situated in the rocker category with recordings reminiscent of the British Invasion of the late 1960s. Dig deeper and the surprises emerge. Their classic rock tendencies jump 50 years to join the pop rock of the 2020s, and their alt rock tendencies are seasoned with slide guitars and down-home lyrics that bring a dash of country rock in their diverse musical repertoire.
