I will be as surprised as you!

Christian is a newcomer to our community and he has asked about bringing a few friends to join him to play a set. There will be an accordian. He told me I could invite my friends as well! He has been to #3, but I don't yet know him.

I love surprises! Hope you can join us!

The following is from Christian Montcriol, lightly edited

K.I.S.S. Le Creuset Music
[Le Creuset is the maker of brightly-colored, enamelled cast iron pots now called French ovens]

Our band is dedicated to folk dances mainly from France and a few from other European traditions. The group plays for festivals, home concerts, and cultural events. Its members include Christian Montcriol (accordions, vocal and other instruments), Jesse Kemmener (percussion), Jonathan Mosley (string instruments), and Dan Horowitz (stand-up, double bass and vocals).

Christian Montcriol: I have always been interested in the field of "traditional dance and music." I learned the hurdy-gurdy in the 70s and then the squeeze-box. I have participated in many dance workshops as well as initiating a dance festival and a dance workshop in my village in Provence, France which are both still in operation.

Jonathan Mosley: I have been drawn towards music in the American folk tradition since a young age. I started playing bluegrass music with friends, but there weren't many who knew the songs and traditions in the area I grew up in. Moving to Athens 15 years ago for school really opened up the opportunities to play bluegrass and oldtime music. From there it was a short leap to playing traditional European music, and it has opened a whole new world of songs that I love to play!

Dan Horowitz: A talented bass player attracted by all kind of musics. He has a special relationship with Christian because Dan also speaks French.
