Sunday Songwriters' Revival
Every Third Sunday of the month, "Mojo" Mark Wilmot hosts local and regional songwriters who showcase original songs and tell us the stories that inspired them. Mark is an Athens native who grew up singing the songs his Granny taught him on their rides through the hills of Northeast Georgia. He sings his own songs in the Athens area with the Redstone Ramblers, including many times at No. 3 Railroad Street. Please see the Events Page for details and the Photo Pages for images of their events. Mark is eager to help promote local songwriters through this monthly event.

Caroline Aikin and Carly Gibson are featured this month.

The two of them alternated leading songs, with a clear affection for each other. An excellent afternoon and we hope they will return soon to No. 3 Railroad Street.

Caroline Aikin
"Named 'The Best Acoustic Act' (Atlanta Magazine) in her birth town of Atlanta, GA, Caroline's rich history includes recording and performing with Bonnie Raitt and the Indigo Girls, opening for Arlo Guthrie, Muddy Waters, Doc Watson, Randy Newman, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, 38 Special, Beach Boys, Janis Ian, and Richie Havens. Caroline appears in regional and national festivals, radio shows, workshops and concert series." -- GA Music Hall of Fame

"'Singer/songwriter' is an adequate description of Caroline Aiken, but it doesn't tell you what you really need to know. It doesn't even hint at the unseen work, thought, vision, organization and management she puts into every performance. It doesn't tell you that if she brings along a band, it's going to be an enthusiastic but disciplined unit that's committed to the total musical experience. And it doesn't tell you that Caroline is an Artist with a capital A, whose seemingly effortless songs form a direct link from one soul to another. During the years I hosted "It's Friday!" it was my honor to present performances by Caroline at least ten times, and I never tired of basking in the glow of her work." -- Robb Holmes, Host of the UGA Radio show "It's Friday!"

Caroline promotes local and regional artists on WUGA's broadcast of New South Showcase. Always an interesting show and we thank her for doing this.

Caroline visited our venue on May 14 2016 and on August 27 2019 and both was great!

Carly Gibson Carly Gibson, petite yet mighty, is an Atlanta based singer-songwriter who blends Americana and roots with rock-n-roll and old-school R&B. Carly walks in her own footsteps and draws you in like a magnet with her inviting sultry vocals and sincere lyrics, all gripped together with her gutsy guitar. While her sound is distinctly original, you feel a warm sense of nostalgia less than seconds into her songs as she pays subtle tribute to her many legendary influences including Grace Potter, Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Black Crowes, CSNY and Led Zeppelin.

A respected guitarist, Carly has 13 years of performance under her belt. She has opened for artists such as Randall Bramblett , Michael Tolcher and Geoff Achison and has performed with Caroline Aiken, Donna Hopkins, Diane Durrett, Chris Hicks (Marshall Tucker Band), Jeff Sipe and more. Carly is a 2009 and 2010 alumni of the prestigious GRAMMY Camp, and is a 2013 graduate of the renowned Atlanta Institute of Music - one of fewer than a dozen women to complete their guitar program. Besides her solo career, Carly is a founder of and tours with the successful Atlanta-based bands Gibson Wilbanks and The Pussywillows; she is also currently a backing vocalist with American funk rock legends Mothers Finest (for more information, see Bands). Carly's original single, Love Me, was released on April 20, 2018 with Victory Music Buzz.
