Sunday Songwriters' Revival
Every Third Sunday of the month, "Mojo" Mark Wilmot hosts local and regional songwriters who showcase original songs and tell us the stories that inspired them. Mark is an Athens native who grew up singing the songs his Granny taught him on their rides through the hills of Northeast Georgia. He sings his own songs in the Athens area with the Redstone Ramblers, including many times at No. 3 Railroad Street. Please see the Events Page for details and the Photo Pages for images of their events. Mark is eager to help promote local songwriters through this monthly event.

Songwriters Damaris Drewry and Julie Gribble join us this month!

Damaris Drewry
"I'm never happier than when I am singing!"

My 30+ years of professional performing experience includes everything from Bach to Bluegrass, solo coffeehouse gigs, showcase concerts, and being an onstage, performing musical director for equity theatre. I sing because it's an expression of soul and a way of being of service. I've lost my voice for ten years at a time. Twice. And I recovered my ability to sing in front of an audience despite horrible panic attacks. I play 5 instruments and the most fun I've ever had was playing tenor pan in a West Indian Steel Band in the early 1970's before steel bands became hugely popular. All through the 1980's I had 40 fiddle students every week! I accidentally became a PhD psychologist by helping people find their voices out in the desert under a full moon - not just a singing voice, but reclaiming personal power and recovering the ability to stand up for themselves. And I became an expert on Sound Healing in the 1980's.

Julie Gribble
Lots of info on juliegribble.net. The following is from a much longer bio that focuses on her career: "The people that surround me are crazy in the best way, like me. Yes we opinionated but that's because we stand firm in our beliefs that great music comes from the heart, not a formula. I'm told all the time that my music is 'outside the box.' Yaa know what? I like that way ... 'cause in the end I'll know I gave this dream a damn goo shot with integrity and passion. I say 'cheers' to a good dream, a shot of whiskey, some laughs and a hell of a lot of hard work."
