Sally Barris is an A-list Nashville songwriter who has had songs covered by such top-level artists as Kathy Mattea, Martina McBride, and Lee Ann Womack. Her song "Let The Wind Chase You", recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Keith Urban, received a Grammy nomination for vocal collaboration in 2009.
While her writing credits mightily impress, fans and peers are most captivated by her bright spirit and expressive mountain soprano. Dirty Linen says "Barris knows how to write lyrics that are as forthright as a stream of clear water and how to support them with melodies that share that quality." Sally also performs with dobro player and guitarist Chas Williams and mandolin player Jason Bailey as "Sally Barris & The Birmingham Boys". The Minnesota native has performed Mountain Stage, New Bedford Summer Fest, Wildflower Arts & Music Festival and The Kerrville Folk Festival.

The Songwriting Workshop
Sally is noted for giving both concerts and famous Songwriting Workshops during her tours. In 2019, Sally did both events at No. 3 Railroad Street, the concert the night before the Workshop,and the Workshop the next day. Eight students attended in 2019 and they learned a lot about song structure, keys, and stuff I have no idea how to convey!
Sally will do both again this year. Come to the Saturday evening concert to hear and see how Sally gently manages her performance as she displays the results of her song craft.
Then, please consider expanding your skills as a songwriter in the following Workshop with Sally and fellow students. You will also probably pick up some hints on performing your work and may discover a potential partner in songwriting or in performance. But the focus will be on the music you write.
