Rose and Joe Willey
6 pm Saturday, May 7, 2022

Nelita Rose Willey and Joe Willey are daughter and father who will be at No. 3 Railroad Street for the first time on Saturday, May 7, 2022. They perform as a duo as well as part of the larger band "Joe Willey and the Movin' Men."

They have performed for private parties, house concerts, at Hendershot’s and The Foundry as well as on their floats (!) in the Athens Parade of Lights. They have recorded a CD together as Rose and Joe featuring voice and banjo, as well as having completed a CD with their full band.

Nelita plays the bodhran (Irish drum) as well as other percussion. This has added jigs and reels to their repertoire along with swampy old country music and fiddle tunes. Joe is a multi-instrumentalist (instruments include banjo, guitar, fiddle, harmonica and concertina), singer, and songwriter. They perform original songs they have written together as well as traditional and modern songs. Joe’s raspy drawl is the perfect foil for Nelita Rose’s melodious and accurate mezzo soprano.
