Buddy Mondlock

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Buddy Mondlock is widely respected by his peers and fans alike and regarded as a real songwriter's songwriter. He appeared on the PBS television special "Great Performances" in 1996 with Peter, Paul and Mary where together they sang Mondlock's song "The Kid." His songs have also been recorded by greats like Garth Brooks, Guy Clark, Joan Baez, Janis Ian, David Wilcox, and Cry, Cry, Cry. Nanci Griffith fans will recognize Mondlock's "Comin' Down In the Rain" from her Grammy award winning collection, Other Voices, Other Rooms. In 2003 Buddy toured North America and Europe with Art Garfunkel and Maia Sharp in support of their trio album titled Everything Waits To Be Noticed. - From buddymondlock.com

"He brings innocence, warmth and soul with a soft-spoken voice whose power has struck the hearts of fans in this country and abroad. In a Songwriters' Olympics, he'd have a pile of gold medals." - Ellen Light, Focal Point, St. Louis

"As acclaimed as he is as a songwriter, he is a fine performer who can create his share of magic with his high clear voice and inventive acoustic guitar." David Johnson, Boston Globe

In recent years Buddy has been writing songs with military veterans through a program sponsored by an organization called Music Therapy of the Rockies and he includes several of those songs in his shows (and one on his new album). "This has been such a powerful experience and I'm honored to have been trusted with these stories of trauma and of triumph too," he says.

Buddy and Maia Sharp have also been collaborating on a new musical called, The Girl In the Red Dress. It includes several songs from their project with Art Garfunkel and a slew of new material from Buddy and Maia. Set in a world where "The Leader" has banished all color as subversive, the story focuses on a young woman who must learn to believe in herself and comes to find that she can actually make a difference.

In addition to writing and touring Buddy also teaches songwriting. Along with one day workshops across the US and Europe he has also been a staff instructor at the Swannanoa Gathering, the Kerrville Folk Festival Song School, the Sisters Folk Festival Song Camp and retreats like Ellis Paul's New England Songwriter Retreat and Cedarsongs in Tennessee.

This will be Buddy's second concert at No. 3 Railroad Street. His first was on September 8, 2018. The images below are from that concert.

Please note that Buddy is offering a workshop on songwriting the following day, Saturday, February 25 2023 from 1 to 5 pm. At least five people must attend for the event to be held and the cost is $50. Please contact Mary to reserve a slot and help ensure that we know the interest.
