Fester Hagood organizes what he calls "Fester Hagood's Mojo Confessional Songwriters Showcase." It builds on Mark Wilmot's "Mojo's Sunday Afternoon Songwriters' Revival" which brought two singer/songwriters to No. 3 Railroad Street each month. We look forward to hearing both new and familiar voices and stories about their songs under Fester's direction. Please read about Fester on the bottom of this page and about both series of concerts on the Songwriters landing page.

This Month: Pickled Holler, Julie Gribble and Mark van Allen!

   :

Fester brings, for the third time, the duo Pickled Holler to No. 3 Railroad Street this January, and for the second time, Julie Gribble and Mark van Allen. The event will be outdoors, weather permitting.

Pickled Holler joined with Caroline Monroe, Woody Garrison and the Redstone Ramblers in a Songwriters Showcase on July 10, 2022 and on January 14, 2024, they played, as today, with Julie Gribble.

Pickled Holler is described as a Family Band, with Jessica Williams, Bass/Vocals/Flute, and Mathew Williams, Guitars/Vocals. They have been joined by lots of others (see below), recently by Trey Young, Mandolin, and Jacob Bell, Percussion.

[The following is from their website ...] Pickled Holler is the story of a man, and a woman, and sometimes some other people, but don't worry this isn't a dirty story. Unless you count all of the dirty picks, muddy traveling shoes, and rustic tales from dusty eras both old and new. [Fester describes them as a Bluegrass Americana Duo.]

Matthew and J. Williams and their friends have been singing these songs from the Pickled Holler, rumored to lie somewhere between Carrollton, Americus, and Athens, (but that depends on who you ask) for many years, and expect to continue just as long as there are people who like to smile, dance and listen to great songs.

Matt and J have been blessed to join so many musical heros on the live stage throughout the years including Wynonna Judd, Mike Mills, Kevn Kinney, Jim Lauderdale, Jeff Mosier, David Blackmon, Leftover Salmon, Jason Carter, Larry and Jenny Keel, Jimmy Herring, Oteil Burbridge and countless more. We do not know who will join them today.

Each Pickled Holler show is played with humble yet fierce intention and provides a unique listening experience.

Julie Gribble With her mellow, alternative rock and a twist of Americana country style, Julie has entranced audiences with her modern stories of life, love and relationships. Audiences connect immediately to the unique lyrics. They're not the same old love cliches.
